Once the theme of your board is decided upon, we discuss tile options, paint color schemes, board design layout and chess pieces. Options are limitless.
Our custom chess board design is patented. It’s your vision that makes each chess board unique. The wood border and trim are measured and cut precisely so that the tile fits perfectly inside the border. All cuts are made with hand tools.
Since each chess board is custom and unique please allow 2-3 weeks for it to come to life.
I have always had a vision for creativity which began with me making handmade tables and lamps out of pipes and glass. Since I have been passionate about the game of chess, as a player myself, this inspired me to create my first handmade custom chess board.
The positive feedback that I received from family and friends quickly transpired into several orders for custom chess boards from both chess players and those that simply appreciate the beauty of the custom craftsmanship. With the overwhelming demand this influenced the creation of The Red Tile. As a family owned and operated business since 2014, we strive to support local businesses as well as schools and chess programs.

The process is simple and begins with your personalized idea which allows me to design and create your vision, bringing your chess board to life. You can be as much or as little involved in the design as you prefer. Themes for your chess board can begin with a favorite color, hobbies, interests or a combination of all.
